First Kentucky foal for Walmac’s multiple Graded stakes winner Fulsome

Fulsome first foal at Westbrook Farm on Jan. 24, 2025

Walmac stallion Fulsome, a multiple Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed son of perennial leading sire Into Mischief, sired his first reported foal in Kentucky on Jan. 23. Fulsome also has a New York-bred and an Oklahoma-bred on the ground. The Kentucky-bred filly is out of the Star Guitar mare Addadore, a full sister to stakes-placed Rue Lala. The filly was bred by Todd and Angie Lewis’ Westbrook Stables and foaled in Nicholasville, Ky. Westbrook Stables bred Soul of an Angel, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) in November and honored Thursday night with the Eclipse Award for Champion Female Sprinter of 2024.

“This filly hit the ground running; stood in 34 minutes,” said Todd Lewis. “Plenty of bone and a good top line.”

A Juddmonte homebred trained by Brad Cox, Fulsome won the Smarty Jones S. (G3) at PARX and the Matt Winn S. (G3) at Churchill Downs at three. He scored the most lucrative victory of his career in the $400,000 Oaklawn Mile S. (G3) at Oaklawn Park as a four-year-old in 2022, and he also annexed that year’s West Virginia Governor’s S. (G3). Fulsome brought the curtain down on his 2022 campaign with a runner-up effort to Grade 1 winner West Will Power in the Fayette S. (G2) at Keeneland and then finished third in the $1 million Clark S. (G1) at Churchill Downs. All told, he retired with a record of 17-8-2-2 and amassed earnings of $1,244,553.

Hailing from a deep Juddmonte female family replete with black type, Fulsome is out of the winning Distorted Humor mare Flourish. He is a half-brother to graded stakes-placed Mr Darcy and a full brother to multiple stakes-placed Citrus Burst. He descends from the prolific family of Sightseek, Tates Creek, Expert Eye, and Country Grammer.
